WHY MONITOR MY TYRES?

Monitoring and maintaining tyre pressure and temperature helps drive safety and add performance and savings to your mine operations.

  • Your mine's safety and productivity depend on your vehicles running at peak performance: safely, efficiently and economically.
  • Tyres play a crucial role in your vehicles’ performance. Speed, load, tyre condition and mine condition impact tyre performance.
  • Tyres are a significant part of your operational budget.

What are the advantages of using a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) at your site?

  • Monitoring tyre pressure and temperature maximizes safety and optimizes tyre performance
  • Gives you peace of mind and better control of your mine and equipment
  • Reduces maintenance costs

Did you know: For a mine with twenty 100-ton trucks, the tyre budget could exceed $1,000,000 annually*. Installing a TPMS could deliver annual savings up to 20%**, or a $200,000 reduction in the annual tyre budget, coupled with added fuel efficiency gains.

WHAT IS MICHELIN MEMS LITE?

A simple, budget-friendly Tyre Pressure Monitoring Solution

Whatever the tyre brand, MICHELIN MEMS LITE is an affordable, easy-to-operate tyre monitoring solution that adds safety and savings to your operations without installing hardware on your trucks.

It combines MEMS proven, long-lasting tyre sensors with fixed reading stations that capture tyre data periodically based on when vehicles drive by. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

How does MICHELIN MEMS LITE connect to my equipment?

Tyre sensors are fitted inside each tyre – either by using the “MEMS-ready” feature in MICHELIN tyres or a retrofit patch for tyres smaller than 49” or non-MICHELIN® tyres. When vehicles drive by fixed reading stations strategically installed at the mine site, the fixed reading station captures the data and then transmits it to a local or cloud-based server. There is no hardware installed on your vehicles.

IS THERE A MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM SIZE OF FLEETS REQUIRED TO USE MICHELIN MEMS LITE?

No, not at all. MICHELIN MEMS LITE is a simple, affordable TPMS that is an ideal option for any size fleet to start to measure tyre pressure and temperature remotely and periodically. This reliable, easy-to-operate TPMS helps strengthen safety, save on budget and increase productivity at your mine sites.

How many antennas and transceivers do I need to have efficient results?

MICHELIN MEMS LITE operates through tyre sensors and fixed reading stations. One fixed reading station is enough as long as it is strategically positioned at your mine site. You can extend the performance of your MICHELIN MEMS LITE system by adding more reading stations to capture data from more MEMS LITE-equipped vehicles that drive by. There is no hardware installation required on trucks. The tyre sensors work automatically with fixed reading stations.

What is the time life of the sensor, its frequency and range of emitions?

MICHELIN MEMS LITE uses Michelin’s proven MEMS tyre sensors that are long-lasting and liquid-proof, compatible with tyre liquid additives. Thanks to the “Sensor Age Advice” feature, you can use it to its max life. The sensors emit each minute in 433MHz radio frequency; it extends to 16 seconds during the 15-minute inflation period. For the range emition, the fixed reading stations can capture tyre sensor data from up to 100 meters / yards with a clear line of sight.

Is it possible to extract the data?

Yes, when the data is captured at reading stations, it is transmitted to a local or cloud server and easily accessible by mine personnel from any laptop, tablet or smart phone. You also can extract the raw data.

DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE OR LEASE MICHELIN MEMS LITE?

We can propose solutions for purchasing or leasing the solution.

Is the pressure and temperature data reliable?

Yes, Michelin launched the industry’s first TPMS for surface mining in 2006. In its fourth generation, it is the best-selling TPMS on the market. We have used this 15 years of experience to launch this newest offer in our family of TPMS – MICHELIN MEMS LITE. We are confident in the traceability and reliability of the data.

How can I upgrade to MICHELIN MEMS 4?

MICHELIN MEMS LITE is easily upgradable to MICHELIN MEMS 4 by adding hardware (a transceiver) to your trucks that upgrades from periodically capturing data to continuous readings among other features. Click here to learn more about the added functionality of MICHELIN MEMS 4.
