MICHELIN OPTICOIL: MATERIAL EFFICIENCY FOR SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

WHAT IS MICHELIN OPTICOIL?

undefined Video

OPTICOIL is a new patented MICHELIN technology for improved material efficiency. The layout and composition of the materials in the bead area have been completely reworked, offering a thinner design and distinctive curve and allowing for less tire mass but the same robustness. OPTICOIL is usually combined with DURACOIL technology for bead area reinforcement and improved robustness.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR YOU?

This technology provides these major benefits to customers:

  • Decreased raw material consumption
  • Optimized global payload

With this new technology, between 0.7 kg and 1.5 kg of raw materials are saved per tyre, no matter the position or dimension, allowing for a total gain of up to 15 kg of raw materials for a 12 tyre European convoy(1)
